This stop-motion animation explores the intricate artistry and transformative beauty of origami through motion, focusing on variations of the iconic origami crane. Working without a storyboard, I followed a loosely planned sequence of models, allowing for instinctive animation that led to unexpected creative moments, such as the inclusion of my sweater as part of the visual narrative.
Capturing the folding steps proved especially challenging, particularly the aerial sequences, which required the use of wire supports that were later removed digitally. The featured crane variations include the traditional crane, the Kotobukizuru (Congratulations Crane), the Rose Crane by Satoshi Kamiya, the Feathered Crane by Riccardo Foschi, and the Crane Humanoid by Shinji Sasade.
